Kids' nature program to be offered Mondays

Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to join the Crown Point parks department for a nature program from 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays between June 23 and Aug. 11.

The class will combine learning with hands-on crafts. The class is $5 per class for residents and $10 per class for nonresidents, and the registration deadline is the Friday before each class.

IUN offers certification in French and Spanish

As American culture becomes increasingly multilingual, the Indiana University Northwest School of Education has decided to offer a secondary education certification in French and Spanish instruction. Students who are interested in becoming middle school and high school foreign language teachers can earn the necessary credentials in this program.

IUN officials said there is a need for foreign language teachers as schools prepare students to enter a global marketplace.

Library's video game event set for June 24

Children in first- through eighth-grade can play Dance, Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. June 24 at the Lake County Public Library's central location, 1919 W. 81st Ave.
