A public meeting this week is one of a series of statewide discussions of the Great Lakes Water Management Compact signed by governors of the Great Lakes states in 2005.
The agreement aims to ban major diversions of fresh water from the Great Lakes.
The public is invited to meet with Indiana Department of Natural Resources staff and representatives of conservation groups and business groups supporting the compact.
In 2008, Indiana will consider legislation to ratify the compact.
The meeting is at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore headquarters, 1100 N. Mineral Springs Road in Porter. For more information, call (317) 232-4200.
