Bomb threat reported to Red Robin

An eatery on U.S. 30 had to be evacuated after an unknown woman called in a bomb threat at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, police said.

Red Robin, 2465 Southlake Mall, was evacuated while police searched but came up with nothing, Hobart police Lt. Leo Finnerty said.

Counterfeit money used at gas station

A customer on Thursday used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a bill at a gas station at 4575 W. 37th Ave., police said.

The money, which had originally been a $5 bill, had been altered on a computer to look like $100, Hobart police Lt. Leo Finnerty said.

Police report rash of thefts from vehicles

Residents reported a number of overnight thefts from vehicles, police said Friday.

Taken during the break-ins were wallets, change, radios, face plates off of radios and tools, Hobart police Lt. Leo Finnerty said.

The break-ins were reported by a resident in the 3700 block of Sandusky, two residents in the 900 block of Lake Street and one resident in the 500 block of North Wisconsin Street.
