SUMMER READING | South Haven

Youngsters are invited to Book It to the Barnyard during the summer reading program at South Haven Public Library. The program runs to July 12 at the library, 403 W. County Road 700 North. In addition to the independent reading program, children can sign up for various activities offered throughout the six weeks. The library invites youngsters to learn how to care for pets, to show their pets in the annual pet show, to make crafts, to tie-dye T-shirts and to join a cookout. Registration is required.

ADULT SUMMER READING | Porter County

The Porter County Public Library System will offer an adult summer reading program through July 31. Adults with a valid library card are encouraged to read or listen to a book from the library collection and then fill out a review card and return it to the adult services desk. With each review card, the participant's name is entered in a drawing for prizes. The drawing will be held Aug. 4, and the winner does not need to be present.

Friends of the Portage Library are looking for donations of hardback and paperback books, records, CDs, DVDs, cookbooks, children's books and magazines. Donations can be taken to the Portage Public Library, 2665 Irving St. The group also is looking for volunteers to staff the book sale room on Mondays and Saturdays.
