The Calumet Corner Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines International will represent the Lake County Calumet area in the Lake Michigan Region 3, Sweet Adelines International competition set for Thursday to Sunday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The women's barbershop-style singing group will compete against 12 other choruses. The chorus has a newly formed quartet, Hopscotch, which will be competing in the quartet category, according to a written release.

The chorus is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the American musical art form of four-part barbershop harmony through education and performance. Chartered in 1968, the group has 30 members. More are welcome. Those who like to sing and are looking for something fun to do may attend rehearsals, which are 7 p.m. Thursdays at Christian Fellowship Church on 165th Street in Hammond.

The chorus provides musical entertainment for groups, organizations and individual social events such as holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, luncheons and weddings. A quartet, octet or the full chorus is available. For information, call (219) 365-0160 or (708) 339-7381.
