The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Friday it will conduct a series of closures of the Interstate 65 ramps to Interstate 80/94 Saturday through July 11 to further the reconstruction of the interchange.
Between midnight and 5 a.m. Saturday, the ramp from northbound I-65 to eastbound I-80/94 will be closed, and traffic will be detoured onto westbound on I-80/94 to the Broadway exit ramp and then over to eastbound I-80/94.
From 9 p.m. Monday to midnight Tuesday, the northbound I-65 right lane at Ridge Road will be closed again.
The ramp from northbound I-65 to westbound I-80/94 will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. Tuesday through July 11, excluding the July 4 weekend and Sunday July 6.
The closures eventually will allow both directions of I-65 traffic to be shifted onto newly constructed northbound I-65 bridges and pavement, the state reports.
Traffic on the ramp from northbound I-65 to westbound I-80/94 also will be shifted onto newly constructed pavement.
Once this traffic is shifted, demolition and reconstruction of southbound I-65 bridges and pavement can begin.
The work schedule is subject to change depending on weather. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone. For more information about the construction, visit www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/borman/ online.
