FLOSSMOOR | For more than 30 years, the H-F Ice Arena, 777 Kedzie Ave., has been serving skaters, hockey players and families. This fall the community is invited to meet the new hockey director, see the recent improvements made to this facility, and sign up for a learn-to-skate program or hockey league.

Brit Terry was named the new hockey director at the H-F Ice Arena this past spring. Terry has been skating and involved in hockey for more than 15 years. Last winter, she was the head coach of a U14A girls team in Minnesota.

"I'm very excited for this opportunity at H-F, and I hope to share my hockey enthusiasm with the H-F community," she said, in a news release from the park district.

Terry has designed a new H-F Hockey Development Program, starting this fall. The newly structured format features four skill levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Ages 3 to 14 can learn to skate, develop skills or improve upon existing skills. Skaters can start at any of the four levels based on skills, age or recommendation from instructors.

"The program philosophy is to create a fun environment for skaters of all levels to build skills and excel while learning one of the best games ever played," she said.

For those individuals interested in skating, but not hockey, skating director Stephanie Skrzypek's Fall Skating School will teach the skills needed to get gliding no matter your current skill level. Classes, taught by professional skating instructors, are offered for ages 3 through adult six days per week at the arena.

For either hockey or ice skating, the first fall session will run Sept. 10 to Oct. 20; second session will run Oct. 29 to Dec. 15. Fee per session is $55 for H-F residents or $60 for nonresidents.

The H-F Ice Arena also offers youth hockey leagues, adult hockey leagues and clinics, a women's only hockey team, birthday parties and private rentals.
