CROWN POINT | A Chicago man was sentenced to six years in prison for the armed robbery of a Hammond cigarette store, the Lake County prosecutor's office reported Wednesday.

A Lake Criminal Court jury convicted Dante Webb, 29, Sept. 8 of two counts of felony robbery and two counts of felony confinement.

On Aug. 9, 2005, Webb and Stephon R. Delaney, 40, of Chicago, robbed Tobacco City on State Line Avenue wearing masks and carrying semi-automatic handguns, prosecutors said.

They took money from the cash register, wallets from the 67-year-old male business owner and a 28-year-old male employee and cartons of cigarettes.

Delaney was sentenced Feb. 8, 2006, to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay restitution of $1,566.60, prosecutors said.
