CROWN POINT | Fourteen candidates filed Thursday for public office in the May 8 primary.

Five Gary Democrats placed their names on the ballot: Lroselia Colaire is running for mayor, Jonathan Boose and Wendell A. Carey for City Council at-large seats, John Boyd Jr. for the 3rd District seat and Darryl M. Harris for the 4th District seat.

Three East Chicago Democrats are running for City Council: Joel Rodriguez and Juan Angel Puente for at-large seats and Anthony B. Rias for a 3rd District seat.

Cedar Lake Republican Jerry Reiling is running for the Ward 4 Town Council seat. Sherry A. Luellman, a Democrat, is running for Lake Station clerk-treasurer. Highland Republican Daniel Edward Dernule is running for the 5th Ward Town Council seat.

Schererville Democrat Charles Anthony Myszak is running for his Town Council's 3rd Ward seat. Two New Chicago Democrats are running for their Town Council. Sal Gonzalez seeks the 2nd Ward seat, and David G. Hall seeks the 3rd Ward seat.
