REGISTER FOR CAMPS | Hobart

Ross Music Theatre and M & M Productions holds registration for this year's youth theatre camp and video camps from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Center Street Studio Theatre, 227 Center St. The video camps includes a beginners class and two advanced production classes, as well as a one-day film class for all ages. Theatre Camp start at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 and run for four weeks and Video Camps start March 8 and last three weeks each. Each class costs $35. Students can also register online.

SOCCER SIGNUP | Crown Point

Crown Point Youth Soccer Club's spring 2008 registration is available until Feb. 29 at www.cpsoccer.org. Play is open to ages 4 to 13 as of Aug. 1, 2007 residing in Crown Point and Center Township. Traveling team players outside this area must have a release from their local club. Cost is $50 for instructional play up to age 9 and $95 for travel teams, plus a $25 late fee. Chicago Fire team trainers are used for travel players.

FITNESS FAIR | Cedar Lake

Hanover Central High School's Key Club will host its annual Free Fitness Fair from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Hanover Central High School gym, 10120 W. 133rd Ave. Agencies, businesses and organizations that service the youth of the community can exhibit and provide information on their services. Last year's exhibitors included the Little League, Girls Softball League, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Cedar Lake Parks and Recreation Department and others, and more than 300 youth attended. Free games, a Moonwalk, and a bike safety route will be available. Two bicycles will be awarded in a drawing to promote physical activity.

GAMES UNPLUGGED | Cedar Lake

Teens and 'tweens will play games without electricity, including board games, card games, word games and strategy games, at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Lake County Public Library's Cedar Lake branch, 10010 E. 133rd Ave. Munch on pizza and sip soft drinks while having fun.

PLAY BALL | Cedar Lake

Cedar Lake Little League will hold registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Cedar Lake Branch Library, 10010 W. 133rd Ave. Signups and tryouts will be held Feb. 23 and March 8 at Hanover Central High School's gym, with 9- and 10-year-olds reporting at 10 a.m. and 11- and 12-year-olds slated for noon.

SIGN UP FOR BASEBALL | Lake Station

Registration for the Lake Station Little League will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb.19 through 22 at the Lake Station Boys and Girls Club, 4700 Central Ave. Proof of residency and birth certificate must be presented. Registration fee is $65 for the first child and $10 each additional child in a family. Ages 4 and older are welcome. SPRING SOCCER | Lowell

Lowell Parks and Recreation Department holds spring soccer registration for children 4 to 10 years old (by April 19) from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 and 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 23 at the parks office in the town hall, 501 E. Main St. Cost is $35 for residents and $38 for nonresidents and includes a T-shirt and socks. Pee Wees are for ages 4 and 5, Intermediates are for ages 6 and 7 and Juniors are for ages 8 to 10. Season will run April 19 to May 24 with games played on Saturdays; practices begin week of April 7. Coaches are needed.

Get an introductory look at the French language in a six-week program from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, today through March 26 (no class March 12) at Merrillville High School, 276 E. 68th Place. Begin to build French speaking and grammar skills while also being exposed to many forms of French. Activities for the class includes watching a French movie, authentic French cooking and possible out of class activities to appreciate and gain a knowledge of French culture. STORY TIME | Crown Point

A new Preschool Story Time for children 3 to 5 and a parent residing in the Eisenhower Elementary School district is being offered from 2:45 to 3:25 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 21, March 6 and 20, April 10 and 24 and May 8 and 22 in the school library, 1450 S. Main St. Each session will include stories and a developmental lesson, and take-home materials will be provided. There is no cost, but registration is required. The theme Feb. 21 is "Music, Music, Music."

ICE SKATING | Hobart

Ice skating will be available at the 14,500-square-foot Deep River Ice Plaza, from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, 2 to 10 p.m. Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. Sundays through Feb. 24, weather permitting.at Deep River Waterpark, 9001 E. U.S. 30. Food stands, heated bathrooms, the U.S. 30 Surf Shop and group and season pass sales offices will be open. Cost is $4 for adults, $3 for ages 14 and younger and 62 and older, and free for spectators. Skate rentals are $5. No hockey games or sticks, and no food, beverages or coolers can be brought into park.
