CHESTERTON | Chesterton police have released store surveillance photographs of the man who robbed the Walgreens store at 580 Indian Boundary Road at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The robber is described as a male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10, weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt with red sleeves, long shorts and a baseball cap.
Chesterton Detective Lt. David Cincoski said the robber entered the store and went to the pharmacy counter, where he demanded certain prescription drugs. The detective said the robber implied he had a gun, but never displayed it.
After getting pills, he fled in an unknown direction. It isn't known if he got away on foot or in a vehicle, police said. Police said several customers were in the store at the time of the robbery, but neither they nor the employees were injured.
Police said Thursday that they did not know if the store robbery was related to any of this year's four bank robberies in Chesterton -- three of which occurred on Indian Boundary Road and one of which occurred on Broadway.
Police canvassed the area after Wednesday's robbery, but did not come up with any additional leads. Anyone with information is asked to call Chesterton police at (219) 926-1136.
