CROWN POINT | A Hammond man who snatched a woman's purse and knocked a 1-year-old to the ground was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison.

Richard Lucas, 36, asked the woman for directions in a Hammond grocery store parking lot May 24, 2004, according to a news release from the Lake County prosecutor's office. He then grabbed the woman's purse and knocked the baby boy from the woman's arms, the release said.

Lucas pleaded guilty to robbery May 18, according to the release.
