Equine expo is Saturday at fairgrounds
CROWN POINT | Leininger Veterinary Clinic and the Indiana Horse Council welcome the public to the ninth annual Horsin' Around Clinic from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Industrial Arts Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St.
A Model Horse Show, speakers, an equine flea market, farrier demonstrations, artists and new activities vendors will be featured, including Pets at Rest, Cover All Buildings and artist Heidi Harner of Lafayette. Tack shops, medical suppliers, feed companies and horse groups will also participate.
Call (219) 696-6300 to reserve a flea market table for $15; charge for businesses is $25.
Arch LaMere will have his calf roping machines on site, musical entertainment will be provided by Hoosier DJ, including a karaoke contest, and Jill Rigg's Chuckwagon will offer food for purchase.
Submit a photo up to 5-by-7 inches for the Equine Photo Contest in the Youth or Open division (with name and phone number on the back). These will be displayed throughout the afternoon and visitors will vote for their favorite. Winners will be posted at 3:45 p.m.
One of this year's speakers is Kryl Sadowski, who will address the subject of "Being Prepared for a Disaster," explaining how to safeguard animals and the barn. Dr. Larry Leininger will demonstrate his new digital radiography equipment, and farrier demonstrations will be offered. Those attending speaker sessions have a chance to win a special door prize.
Admission is free. No pets are allowed in the building.
