Lansing Historical Society Museum is open to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays; 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. The museum is in the lower level of the public library, 2750 Indiana Ave. Tours are available.

Genealogy | Park Forest

The Illiana Jewish Genealogical Society will meet at 2 p.m. March 23 in the library at Congregation Am Echad, 160 Westwood Drive for a book discussion. The featured book is "Hadassah: One Night with the King" by Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olson, which can be requested through local libraries from the SWAN system. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting, which is free to members. Nonmembers are asked for a $2 donation. Family memberships in Illiana Jewish Genealogical Society are $20 per year.

Antique expert | Lansing

Lansing Historical Society will welcome antique expert Rex Newell at 6:30 p.m. March 24. Newell will appraise items and discuss collectible trends. Bring along a family heirloom to see what it is worth. Attending for members will be free and nonmembers will pay $5. Doors open at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave.

Fish fry | Burnham

Paul Price Amvets 43 will have a fish fry from 4 to 8:30 p.m. March 28 at the post, 14032 Torrence Ave. Choose from walleye, lake perch, shrimp, frog legs, bluegill, Cajun catfish, chicken and a combination platter. Dinner includes cole slaw, cottage cheese, bean salad, potato salad, French fries, bread and coffee. Prices start at $8.50. Carry-outs are available and the public is welcome.

Historical society | Chicago

The Southeast Chicago Historical Society will conduct its annual membership meeting at 11 a.m. March 29 in the Calumet Park Field House, 9801 Avenue G. All members with dues up to date should attend and vote on the new slate of officers. The officers

presented by the nominating committee will be announced. Nominations may be made from the floor. Refreshments will be served and a short program will be presented.

Sweet Adelines | Calumet area

The Calumet Corner Chorus Chapter of Sweet Adelines seeks ladies who love to sing. Sweet Adelines International promotes and preserves four-part harmony barbershop singing, a cappela style. The nonprofit worldwide organization is committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. Members are from various parts of Indiana and eastern Illinois. The chorus has many performances throughout the year, singing for organizations, banquets, special occasions and community events. The group rehearses at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Christian Fellowship Church,605-165th St., Hammond. Guest are always welcome.

PERFORMERS NEEDED | Gary

African American Achievers Youth Corp seeks local performers to be part of productions at the Glen Theatre, 20 W. Ridge Road. The organization owns the theater, which opened in October. Female and gospel soloists are needed for a divas of gospel production, as well as comedians to be part of Comedy Lake County Style. Dancer can compete in So You Want to Dance Lake County Style. Actors are invited to join a resident theatrical group. High school members of the group helped renovate the theater and will man the ticket booth, control booth and concession stand, be ushers and provide valet parking and custodial services.
