Restaurant: Employee stole about $10,000
VALPARAISO | Paparazzi Restaurant, 21 E. Lincolnway, reported Tuesday that an employee stole about $10,000 from the restaurant starting in April by using a manager's code to delete sales.
Police said the thefts were discovered recently and video surveillance showed a certain employee was involved. The employee was never given a manager's code and must have stolen it, police said.
This is the second major theft reported this month at the restaurant. Last week, the restaurant reported that a South Haven resident hosted a dinner party for 45 guests at the restaurant Oct. 26 and hasn't paid the $1,733 bill.
Surveillance camera captures vandalism
VALPARAISO | A Valparaiso man who installed a surveillance camera outside his home because of prior problems with vandalism got a big payoff as the camera captured images of a juvenile he knows and two others toilet papering his property, wrapping plastic wrap around his vehicles and writing an offensive word on his driveway.
The juvenile who was identified -- a 15-year-old Valparaiso boy -- faces a criminal mischief charge. The incident occurred Saturday and was reported Monday. The damage to the driveway is $100.
