LANSING | A Sauk Village man has been charged in connection with two Lansing home burglaries, after police said he left behind his car keys and remote in one of the homes.

Harry F. Starks, 20, was taken to Markham for a bond hearing Thursday after being charged with two counts of residential burglary, according to Lansing police.

Lansing detectives Patrick O'Brien and Wilson Pierce linked Starks to two burglaries that happened Monday, one in the 18400 block of Oak Avenue and one in the 2400 block of 187th Street, according to a news release.

Starks and an accomplice were startled when the owner of the Oak Avenue house returned home shortly after 10 p.m. They fled, but police used Starks' car keys and remote he left there to find his vehicle. They arrested him the next day when Starks tried to report his car as missing, according to a news release.

Police say items stolen and a loaded handgun were recovered. Starks' alleged accomplice remains at large. -- By Times Staff
