Official: Drugstore chain looking at 2 sites in city
HOBART | CVS/Pharmacy is casting its eye toward Hobart, City Planner A.J. Bytnar said.
"We're looking at the possibility of two new CVS stores," Bytnar said.
Richard Anderson, a local attorney representing CVS, confirmed the drugstore chain is hoping to build a 13,225-square-foot building at U.S. 6 and Ind. 51.
The site is now owned and occupied by Jansen's Michigan Fruit Market.
If plans go forward, then the fruit market would be relocated to land directly to the east, Anderson said.
Anderson said he will go before the Plan Commission at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 to request a public hearing on the proposed site plan as well as for primary subdivision approval.
The public hearing on the project would be held at the Dec. 10 Plan Commission meeting.
Bytnar said he understands CVS has future plans to possibly build a second store near St. Mary Medical Center, on the city's south side.
That store would likely replace an existing one that's just north of the hospital, Bytnar said.
Anderson said he could not confirm those plans at this time.
