PORTAGE | Larry Spurlock's Little Big Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Portage Woodland Park in the seventh show in the Portage 2009 Summer Music in the Park series. Music of the big band era will be featured, with timeless songs. Bring lawn chairs and get ready to swing.
The David "Elvis" Lopez show last week was attended by a crowd of about 200 screaming Elvis fans, who were treated to all the great Elvis songs and were the recipients of scarves and teddy bears.
The summer concert series congratulates the Kevin Lucas Orchestra, performing later this summer, for its recent recognition in being named "Best Pop Artist" in April at the 'People's Music Awards' based out of London. The awards are dedicated to unsigned artists. KLO has also received accolades for its contributions to humanitarian causes. Most recently, KLO performed in Illinois for the 'Light Rock 95.1 FM' Pat Benton's foundation that helps abused children.
The summer concert series is made possible by a grant from the John W. Anderson Foundation, and donations by BETA Steel; City of Portage - Mayor Olga Velazquez; Arnold A. Coons, Jr., Attorney at Law; Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce; Terry & Linda Hardin; Warren & Ruth Larson; Main Source Bank; Portage Parks & Recreation; Rhame & Elwood, Attorneys at Law; Samuelson Insurance Agency; Portage Township Live Entertainment Assoc.; Business Professionals Network; Centier Bank; Ondrovich & Associates; Dr. John Johnson, DDS; Susan Kelly-Johnson, Attorney at Law; and Lovings Heating & Cooling.
