Why can't Hayes, Block accept their loss?

Why can't Paul Hayes and Bob Block accept the fact they lost the election? Now the two of them, along with two or three more of their friends, want to form an Economic Development Committee that would be above the Town Council.

These men do not have degrees. It would just be their opinions.

Hayes has done wrong to some people since becoming president of the Town Council. He would just be beside himself if these people won the election and he was outside looking in.

Hayes also knows why he lost the election.

We did not elect Hayes or Block because we thought other candidates were true to their word, as these two men were not! So why can't just accept the fact they lost?
