OXFORD | South Central big man Jake Kitchell shook his head in semi-disbelief, like the tourist whose wallet had just been stolen.

"They're real monsters on the boards," the 6-foot-8 Kitchell said. "Now I know what I've got to work on for next season."

West Side's Xavier Jones, The Times 2009 Player of the Year, complained that the Junior All-Stars' constant subbing put a crimp in his floor game.

"If we play a regular game, with no five-minute subbing, it would be a different story," Jones vowed after Tuesday night's 105-83 blowout win by the Indiana All-Stars in an entertaining exhibition at Benton Central High School.

"We got better players. We got better athletes," Jones said. "But it's crazy with all the subbing. You can't do what you want to do. My game wasn't fluid. I took only 4-5 shots."

The Seniors built an early 29-13 lead but the Junior reserves hit them with a 23-7 run and eventually grabbed a 41-40 lead with 1:13 to go in the half.

"That first half, we gave them a run for their money," Kitchell said. "The second half, we just flat out got outrebounded."

Try 62-38 for the game.

DeShaun Thomas led the Juniors with 15 points, Kitchell had 10, E.C. Central's Mikel Harris six and Jones three.

Errick Peck's 19 points were high for the Seniors, who got 11 rebounds from Stephen Van Treese and had nine dunks as a team.

On Tuesday, Kitchell was offered by Valparaiso University. Oregon State and Indiana State also have waved scholarships at him, but he's still window shopping.

Mooresville's Matt Kenney, who will play college ball at VU next fall. put on quite a show for the near-capacity crowd with his 14 points -- including a pair of NBA dunks -- and six rebounds in 14 minutes.

"Man, can he get up! He's real scrappy and gets to a lot of loose balls," said Kitchell, obviously impressed.

"I got a knack. People shoot and I can visualize where the ball will go," Kenney said. "I'm only like 6-3 but I was born (with great vertical), so you got to use what you got."
