Merrillville alum qualifies for the 400-meter finals
EUGENE, Ore. | Merrillville graduate David Neville kept his 2008 Olympic dream alive after he qualified for Thursday's 400-meter finals by finishing third in his semifinal heat at Monday's U.S. Track Trials.
Neville finished in 45.03 seconds, good for fifth overall heading into the finals.
The top three finishers from Thursday's finals will qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Jeremy Wariner, who won the gold medal four years ago, placed first overall on Monday with in 44.66. LaShawn Merritt was second in 44.76, and Reggie Witherspoon was third in 44.99.
