VICK ORDERED OUT OF CAMP: Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.
"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.
The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed.
Goodell told Vick the league would complete its review quickly and that he expected full cooperation. The review is expected to involve conversations with federal law enforcement officials so the NFL can determine the strength of the case against Vick.

LATE TULSA COACH THRILLED WITH COACHING: Mike Coolbaugh became a coach with the Tulsa Drillers earlier this month not so much for the job itself, but because his little boys loved to see him on the baseball field.
"He had just started," said Coolbaugh's wife, Amanda, who is expecting their third child in October. "We were going to be done with it, but his kids wanted to see him."
Coolbaugh, 35, died Sunday after being struck in the head by a line drive as he stood in the first-base coach's box during a game in Arkansas.
Amanda Coolbaugh, 32, said they planned to wait to find out the baby's sex until the birth. The couple has two sons, Joseph, 5, and Jacob, 3.
"You couldn't have asked for a better father," Amanda Coolbaugh said through tears Monday in San Antonio. "He just paid attention to the boys, put them in clubs and sports ... volunteered time on their teams."
The game between the Double-A Drillers and Arkansas Travelers was suspended in the ninth inning Sunday after Coolbaugh was hit by a foul ball off the bat of Tino Sanchez. He was taken to Baptist Medical Center-North Little Rock, where he was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m.
The Drillers, a Colorado Rockies affiliate, said Monday night's game against the Wichita Wranglers in Kansas was postponed.
MILLER TO START IN TENNESSEE: Cubs pitcher Wade Miller will start for the Double-A Tennessee Smokies on Wednesday as part of his recovery from shoulder surgery.
Miller, 30, went 0-1 with a 10.94 ERA in three starts this season with the Cubs.
He made a start with the Smokies of the Southern League in May, allowing three runs and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings. Miller also pitched three innings with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs on June 20. He gave up one hit and struck out five in that outing.

EDWARDS RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL: NASCAR driver Carl Edwards was released early Monday from an Omaha hospital after being injured Sunday night in a dirt track race in nearby Greenwood, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Details of the injury were not immediately available. Edwards' younger brother, Kenny Edwards, told the Omaha World-Herald it could be a dislocated thumb, caught in the steering wheel during a crash.
Edwards hit the back of another car that had spun out in the third lap, starting a 10-car pileup that battered his car. Edwards left the 25-lap race at I-80 Speedway in the back of an ambulance.
