Alaina Trgovich (Munster) has transferred to Wisconsin after competing at the University of Kentucky her freshman year.

Trgovich, who was courted by the Badgers during the recruiting process, will be eligible to play for Wisconsin right away.

"It was a very, very difficult decision for Alaina, because she had made friends at Kentucky who were like her sisters," said Trgovich's father, Pete.

Trgovich played most of her matches at the No. 5 singles spot and on the No. 2 doubles team.

Trgovich finished the season with a 13-9 singles record and finished 15-10 in doubles.

The Wildcats lost to Southeastern Conference rival, No. 11 Vanderbilt, in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

As a prep player, Trgovich was ranked as 42nd in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net and was a national All-American selection as a senior. She was the No. 1 ranked player in the midwest in both singles and doubles and was a two-time National Open finalist.

Trgovich, who plans to major in pharmacy, was out of town and couldn't be reached for comment.

Track and field

Purdue senior Brian Kaluf (Lake Central) was named a First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Men's Track and Field Team.

He broke the 14-second barrier for the first time in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2008 Mideast Regional Championships -- clocking the meet's ninth-best time at 13.98. He also earned regional qualification in the 400-meter hurdles, notching a collegiate-best time of 52.09 at the Dave Rankin Invitational.

Kaluf earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Big Ten Indoor Championships with his career-best time of 7.94 -- which tied for the fifth-fastest in school history.
