No. 15 Michigan, Novak suffer setback against Alabama
ANAHEIM, Calif. | Demontez Stitt made two free throws with 3.3 seconds remaining to give No. 19 Clemson a 70-69 victory over No. 12 Butler in the 76 Classic on Sunday night.
Trevor Booker also blocked a shot and deflected an inbounds pass in the final second for the Tigers (6-1). Booker finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Andre Young added 12 points.
Gordon Hayward had season highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-2). Shelvin Mack added 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Alabama tops Michigan
Alabama 68, No. 15 Michigan 66 | JaMychal Green scored 20 points, including a go-ahead dunk with five seconds to play, and Alabama beat Michigan at the Old Spice Classic.
Charvez Davis added 12 points for Alabama (4-2), which won two of three games at the tourney.
Manny Haris had 26 points and 10 rebounds for Michigan (3-2), which was coming off a 79-65 loss to Marquette on Friday. Chesterton graduate Zack Novak went 1-for-4 from the field and scored three points for the Wolverines.
Redbirds remain unbeaten
Illinois State 80, St. Bonaventure 77 | Osiris Eldridge scored 28 points and Jackie Carmichael added his first career double-double as Illinois State beat St. Bonaventure in the championship game of the Basketball Travelers Classic.
Eldridge made 10-of-16 shots from the floor, including six 3-pointers. Carmichael scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Redbirds (6-0) remained undefeated.
Sycamores edge Red Wolves
Indiana State 77, Arkansas State 72 | Carl Richard scored 17 points and Harry Marshall added 12 as Indiana State defeated Arkansas State.
Brant Leitnaker and Jake Kelly each added 11 points for the Sycamores (5-2). Daniel Bryant led the Red Wolves (3-2) with 23 points.
Mississippi rolls to victory
Mississippi 73, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 58 | Chris Warren and Terrico White scored 19 points each as Mississippi (5-1) defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-3).
Horace Bond (West Side) scored four points, and Demond Watt (T.F. North) and Jawan Nelson (Bloom Twp.) each added three points for Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
