Hunter safety course set for Valparaiso
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will hold a free, two-part hunters safety course from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. the next two Saturdays at 113 Lincolnway in Valparaiso.
Topics to be covered include ethical hunting, gun safety and safety in the field. Hunters planning to hunt away from Indiana may need this course to buy out-of-state licenses, and children must have taken this course in order to hunt in Indiana.
There is a limit of 30 participants.

Michigan City coho club plans flea market
The Michigan City Hoosier Coho Club will hold its annual flea market and garage sale on Saturday, March 31.
The event runs from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the American Legion Skwait Post, 121 Skwait Legion Ave. in Michigan City. There will be a variety of fishing and hunting items for sale, along with antiques, coins and baseball cards. Also, Rich Holm of Sea Quest Lures will conduct a fishing seminar.
Booth space is still available.

Arbor Day Foundation giving away dogwoods
The National Arbor Day Foundation is giving away two white flowering dogwood trees to anyone who joins in March. The cost to join is $10.
