Winning a state championship is special no matter what the discipline.But Lincoln-Way East’s Illinois High School Association competitive cheerleading state title had some extra meaning to it.
In a rare season, area teams did not bring home any top-3 trophies in the state competitive cheerleading competition. But four of the top-10 finishers in the large-team division were from the area.
The St. Michael School cheerleading squad has won another championship at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association state meet, its 20th title since 1998.
