Unbeaten in conference, Lowell football hosts Kankakee Valley
Lowell's football team puts a three-game winning streak and an unbeaten Northwest Crossroads Conference record on the line when it hosts Kankakee Valley at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Lowell High School.
The Red Devils are 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference after a 41-26 win over Hobart on Friday, Sept. 25. Lowell ran for 497 yards in that game, and junior Tymothy James had 356 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Senior
quarterback Gavin Gutierrez added 103 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Lowell also beat Hanover Central 45-31 and shut out Highland 48-0 during the winning streak. The Red Devils are averaging 35.7 points per game.
Kankakee Valley is 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Kougars lost 61-0 at Culver Academies on Friday, Sept. 25, their third straight shutout loss after defeats of 72-0 at Hobart and 50-0 against Hanover Central.

Kankakee Valley has scored 13 points this season and allowed 335. The Kougars' only touchdowns came in losses to Rensselaer Central and Andrean.
Lowell won last season's meeting 56-14 at Kankakee Valley on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, on the way to a 9-3 season.
The Red Devils are one of two teams without a conference loss. Andrean is 4-0 in league play, and Lowell closes the regular season with road games at Munster on Friday, Oct. 9, and at Andrean on Friday, Oct. 16.

Hanover Central football takes two-game win streak to Hobart
Hanover Central's football team puts a two-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Hobart for a Northwest Crossroads Conference game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Hobart High School.
The Wildcats are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Hobart is 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference after back-to-back losses.
Hanover Central is coming off a 21-14 homecoming win over Munster on Friday, Sept. 25. Senior Dominic Giglio
ran for 197 yards and the go-ahead touchdown, and he has scored a rushing touchdown in five straight games. Senior Jacob Ferko caught two touchdown passes from senior quarterback Wyatt Tewell.
The Wildcats' only loss came 45-31 at Lowell on Friday, Sept. 11. They have also beaten Michigan City, Lake Central, Highland and Kankakee Valley.
Hanover Central is averaging 32.3 points and 342.3 total yards per game, with 142.8 rushing yards and 199.5 passing yards. The defense has allowed 16.2 points per game.
Hobart opened the season 4-0 and outscored those opponents 220-35 before losing 28-10 to Andrean on Friday, Sept. 18, and 41-26 at Lowell on Friday, Sept. 25.
Against Lowell, senior quarterback Aleks Tatum threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score. Senior Stephen Miller caught two touchdown passes, and junior Miles White had 103 receiving yards.
The Brickies are averaging 42.7 points and 422.2 total yards per game, with 213.0 rushing yards and 209.2 passing yards. Hobart's defense has allowed 17.3 points per game and posted shutouts of Chesterton and Kankakee Valley.

The result will shape the top half of the conference standings. Andrean is 4-0 in conference play and Lowell is 3-0, leaving Hanover Central one game behind Andrean and a half-game behind Lowell. The Wildcats host Andrean on Friday, Oct. 9, and close the regular season at Hammond Central on Friday, Oct. 16.
Hobart finishes the regular season on the road at Hammond Morton on Friday, Oct. 9, and at Highland on Friday, Oct. 16.
Munster football travels to Highland looking to rebound
Munster's football team will try to bounce back from a close conference loss when it travels to Highland for a Northwest Crossroads Conference game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in Highland.
The Mustangs are 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference after a 21-14 loss at Hanover Central on Friday, Sept. 25. The teams were tied 14-14 at halftime before Hanover Central scored the only points of the second half.
Munster has lost four of its last five games. Its two wins came in the season opener, 37-35 at Lake Central on Friday, Aug. 21, and in a 38-14 homecoming win over East Chicago Central on Friday, Sept. 18, when senior Sam Sudac ran for three touchdowns.
The Mustangs are averaging 26.8 points per game and have allowed 36.5. Highland is 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Trojans were shut out 42-0 at Andrean on Friday, Sept. 25, one week after a 48-0 home loss to Lowell.
Highland's only win came 50-7 over Whiting on Friday, Aug. 28. The Trojans have been held scoreless in each of their last two games.
In the 42-0 loss to Andrean, Highland was held to 9 passing yards. Junior quarterback Aaron McCormack ran for 42 yards, and senior Justin Slaven led the Trojans with 10 tackles.

After Highland, Munster closes the regular season at home against Lowell on Friday, Oct. 9, and Kankakee Valley on Friday, Oct. 16.
Andrean football takes five-game win streak to Guerin Catholic
Andrean's football team takes a five-game winning streak to Noblesville when it plays Guerin Catholic in a nonconference game at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time (6:30 p.m. Central) Friday, Oct. 2.
The 59ers are 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Northwest Crossroads Conference. They have won every game since a 27-21 season-opening loss at Merrillville on Friday, Aug. 21.
Andrean is coming off a 42-0 home win over Highland on Friday, Sept. 25, its first shutout of the season. Six players scored for the 59ers. Junior quarterback Dylan Gore threw touchdown passes to junior Gavin Helpingstine and Tyler Vo and ran for another score, junior Javier McCoy and senior Ethan Reyna each ran for a touchdown, and junior Colin Watson returned an interception for a touchdown. McCoy also had a sack and a blocked punt.
One week earlier, Gore threw three touchdown passes to sophomore Stetson Sullivan in a 28-10 win at Hobart, and
senior Brady Stovall ran for 125 yards.
Andrean is averaging 34.2 points per game and allowing 11.8. The 59ers have allowed 14 points or fewer in five
straight games.
Guerin Catholic is 2-4 and has lost three straight games. The Golden Eagles opened the season with a 22-14 home
win over McCutcheon on Friday, Aug. 21, and are coming off a 42-7 loss at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Friday,
Sept. 25.
Guerin Catholic went 7-5 last season, a year that also included a 56-14 loss to Bishop Chatard. The Golden Eagles finish the regular season with road games at Mt. Vernon on Friday, Oct. 9, and Lafayette Central Catholic on Friday, Oct. 16.
It is Andrean's third nonconference road game of the season, after the opening loss at Merrillville and a 25-14 win at Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Friday, Aug. 28.
After Guerin Catholic, Andrean returns to conference play for its final two regular-season games. The 59ers travel to Hanover Central on Friday, Oct. 9, and host Lowell on Friday, Oct. 16. Lowell is 3-0 in the conference, and Hanover Central is 3-1, so both games will shape the conference title race.
